Return to Him with your WHOLE heart. (Revival, Friday August 26,2011)

Psalm 136:1  "O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever."

1. Sometimes we need to seek out our healing.

Tonight we learned about ten lepers.
Luke 17:11-19
On the way to Jerusalem Jesus was going through the region between Samaria and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten lepers approached him. Keeping their distance, they called out, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" When he saw them he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests."

These 10 men had to seek Jesus out to receive their healing, and sometimes so do we!

2. Obedience isn't an option.

After they asked Jesus to heal them, he gave them a direct command to GO and show themselves to the priests.
Sometimes we have to do what is asked of us, even though we may not want to, to receive what God has planned for us.
And as they went, they were made clean. (v.14)

3. Return to Him with your whole heart! (thankfulness is a choice)

After all of this, only ONE man returned to Jesus and thanked Him for what He'd done for him.  Will you be that one?   Will you return to Jesus with your whole heart and worship Him for His mighty works?
"Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice. He prostrated himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus asked, "Were not ten made clean? But the other nine, where are they? Was none of them found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" Then he said to him, "Get up and go on your way; your faith has made you well."  (v.14-19)

Memory Verse :

Jeremiah 24:7
And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.

Wrestling With The Devil (Sunday August 21, 2011)

Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
1. The Devil Wants to Keep You From God's Blessings

Satan doesn't want us to experience God's blessings for us, that's why he wants to wrestle with us with temptation. He wants us to give in, and to sin, and sometimes he fights us with sickness and disease.

The boy we learned about today knew exactly what this was about. He couldn't experience God's blessings in his life because the demons were in control of him.  He wrestled with the devil EVERY DAY!

In Mark 9, his father brought him to Jesus and tells Jesus about his fight with the demons. The father was discouraged, but asked Jesus, "If you can do anything to help us, please have pity on us."

2. Wrestling With The Devil Can Be Discouraging

Sometimes wrestling with the devil can discourage us, and make us sad.  Some of us may have members of our family that are sick, and have been for a long time. We've been praying for them for a while, but they are still sick.  Some of us wrestle with the devil over friends who are unsaved, or family members who are unsaved.  It can discourage us when we pray and don't see the answers right when we ask for them.

The boy's father says to Jesus "IF you can do anything..."  Jesus replies to him, "If I can do anything?   ANYTHING is possible for those who believe!"

3. There Are No IFs With God!

We should never seek God with "If..." We should seek Him with full knowledge that He CAN do anything and will help us defeat the devil every time.   Jesus healed that little boy from the demons he fought with for his entire life. He transformed the little boys life!

God can do the same thing for you and me!!!  We get discouraged when we wrestle with the devil, and we may even feel defeated because we have been wrestling for so long, but God wants to TRANSFORM us into mighty warriors for HIS glory!

Memory Verse :

"...with God everything is possible."  Matthew 19:26

Big Idea :
Everything is possible with G-O-D!

Jesus Calms The Storm (Sunday, August 14, 2011)

1. Storms come Even When I'm Following Jesus

So many people think that if we choose to follow Jesus that everything will be hunky dory and life will be easy.  But that is not what life is like.  Sometimes storms come, even when we are following Jesus.
The disciples didn't do anything wrong to cause the storm, but they had to go through it anyway!

2. Storms May Scare You, But They Don't Scare Jesus

The disciples were terrified of this great big storm, and that it was stronger than they were. They were just men, how could they be bigger than a storm?  Jesus, was peaceful and sleeping though. He knew He was bigger and more powerful than ANY storm!

3. When Storms Come, Remember Jesus Is In Your Boat

We have to remember that we are NEVER alone, even when we walk through large storms! Jesus promised us that He would never leave us, or forsake us!

Memory Verse :

Matthew 8:26  Then [Jesus] stood up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly all was calm.

Big Idea :

Jesus conquers every storm, He will keep you safe and warm!

God has NO favorites! (Sunday August 7,2011)

1. God Loves Everyone The Same
Simon didn't think it was important to spend time with the sinful woman, but Jesus disagreed. He knew that God loved everyone just the same no matter what they did.
John 3:16 says that God so loved THE WORLD.

2. If We Love God, We Will Love Others As He Does

Sometimes we forget how much God loves others, and we act like Simon the Pharisee. This often causes us to forget that we are called to love others just like He loves us!

The BEST way we can show God we love Him, is by loving others like He would!

Memory Verse :

Romans 5:8  But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Big Idea :

"God doesn't play the favorites game. He loves everyone just the same!"

Are you like clay?... (Wednesday)

Job 33:6 NIV

I am the same as you in God's sight;

I too am a piece of clay.
