Paul and Silas In Prison


Just as in the silly song for this lesson the rowers are 'merrily' doing their work - so did Paul and Silas.  Being sent to prison for casting out a spirit possessing a slave girl, instead of being beaten and giving up, Paul and Silas are praying and singing about God's glory.  God releases them from their bonds, but likely due to their joyous attitudes they stay there and are able to talk and commune with the Jailer's family.. ending with that entire family getting saved and baptized!  God really pulls off miracles and usually never how we would expect it to happen! Be joyous in all that you do!

Elijah and The Woman

Old Mother Hubbard likely felt much like the woman in this bible story.  The good thing is that even though there was a drought and it was very possible this woman and her son would die, God stepped in when they were in need.  Their trust in this man of God saved them - and in the end themselves - the boy literally regained his life in the story.  God is amazing and we should truly trust in Him to provide us our needs and not worry about everything around us! 

Mr. Derek talks about when God fed a man by ravens and then the miracles that happened with an old woman and her son.

Jack Sprat - Lesson 15 of Nursery Rhyme and Silly Songs

Daniel's diet under Babylon

Jack Sprat and His wife each had different diets that they lived by and the Israelite did as well, but when they were under the rule of Babylon they were being forced to eat foods that God had made clear were not 'clean' to eat.  By convincing the ones over them that they could eat just vegetables and drink water and still be strong and healthy God blessed them with knowledge and wisdom that made them very important to the king.  When we fast we are not doing it to be hungry or to lose weight, we do it to give to God to show him our devotion to Him in our lives. Jesus even mentioned how important fasting is when we face a problem that is not easily solved.  God wants you to be strong and healthy, as well as wise and intelligent - do not be afraid to give something up for a little while for that gift to come to you!!

A star MOVED to show the WISE men where Christ was.  We should be like that star.  Shining brightly for Christ .. guiding others to Him.  Let us not be ashamed of Christ within us - let us understand that we can be a Star for God.  All of us.. no limits on age or ability! Shine for God! Just like the traveler in the song, we are thankful for the 'star' that guides us to Christ!

In the story of Legion we learn that even under the influence of evil spirits a man is still able to focus and go to Jesus.  As well we learn that Jesus has power to remove those thoughts that are bad and ever when there may be 2000 Jesus can handle it.  Shoo devil and do not bother me, In the name of Christ!

There Was An Old Woman - Lesson 12 of Nursery Rhyme and Silly Songs

David and Bathsheba

When David made the HUGE mistake of getting Bathsheba pregnant and setting it up to be sure that her husband would die in the war, he was disciplined in a very interesting way.  Not only did David already show himself that what he did was wrong but he suffered though the consequences in a fairly well fashion.  He accepted them and moved on with his life, but albeit thinking hard to not make that mistake again.  We should all understand that God teaches us with correction because He loves us and wants us to know how to do things right!

The Ten Lepers

The ten lepers were very smart to seek out Jesus and ask for mercy (Please).  Each of them were healed because of it, but only one of them was thoughtful and thankful enough to return and offer thanks. "Please" and "Thank You" are magical because of what they do inside of us - as well as those around us when we or they use them!  You can use them too!
