Pat-A-Cake Pat-A-Cake - Lesson 27 of Nursery Rhyme and Silly Songs

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man.
Bake me a cake as fast as you can;
Pat it and prick it and mark it with B,
Put it in the oven for baby and me.
Patty cake, patty cake, baker's man.
Bake me a cake as fast as you can;
Roll it up, roll it up;
And throw it in a pan!
Patty cake, patty cake, baker's man

James 1:17

New International Version (NIV)
Every good and perfect gift is from above,coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Matthew 7
Ask for bread.. get a stone?

The playful banter of this 'Nursery Rhyme' is of a companionship between two people that care for one another with sharing.  In Matthew 7 Jesus is talking about the exact same relationship that we have with Him.. with His father.  That God wants to share with us - he wants to fill our needs and give us what we ask for.

Doe Doe and The Gift Asked For (Object Lesson About Asking God)!!

Doe Doe talks to the kids about gifts from God. (Sorry about the length.. sometimes spectators are not as fast as others with cards :) )

The Muffin Man - Lesson 26 of Nursery Rhyme and Silly Songs

Do [or "Oh, do"] you know the muffin man,
The muffin man, the muffin man,
Do you know the muffin man,
Who lives in Drury Lane?

Yes [or "Oh, yes"], I know the muffin man,
The muffin man, the muffin man,
Yes, I know the muffin man,
Who lives in Drury Lane.

Philippians 3:8
New Living Translation (NLT)
 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord...

John 18 (Denials)
John 21 (Redemption)

Peter's Denial of Christ and redemption

The Muffin man song is all about knowing someone and declaring that you do.  If We know Christ we should not be fearful of admitting that we do, but many times we are just like Peter was.  Sometimes it may not seem 'cool' to be a believer, or it may not seem like if you admit it you are going to get what you want.  While God will forgive us of our doubts, just like he did for Peter, we should try and be steadfast in our faith to Him!

Doe Doe and The Doubt of Belief (Object Lesson About Faith And Denial)!!

Doe Doe shows the Lakewood Kids what it means when we doubt Jesus.. and how we can lose faith - but as well how we can love Jesus and gain faith again!

Hickory Dickory Dock - Lesson 25 of Nursery Rhyme and Silly Songs

Hickory dickory dock
The mouse ran up the clock
The clock struck one

Ecclesiastes 3:1

New Living Translation (NLT)

For everything there is a season,
    a time for every activity under heaven.

1 Samuel 26

David's many opportunities to kill Saul

This one is simple - Time is something we all deal with - God knows what is best for us, and when it is best for us.  David was giving chance after chance.. after chance to kill Saul and take the station of King, right fully anointed to him by God.  The good thing about David in this time of his life, He knew that it was not the right way to take what was 'his'.  He still held a high respect for Saul and waited for God to move Saul out.

Everything really does have it's time and it's place.  Each kid is not driving around town because they are not old enough to legally do it.  It is possible that they could learn and do it, but the time is not right for it.  If we can all learn how to see things like David did, and have God given discernment - we would have a bit easier time in 'life'.

The Water & Oil (Object Lesson about Time and Place)!!

When we talked about Hickory Dickory Dock, we discussed Ecclesiastes and how there is a time and place for everything, using oil and water as an object lesson.

Three Little Kittens - Lesson 24 of Nursery Rhyme and Silly Songs

Three little kittens they lost their mittens,
And they began to cry,
Oh, mother dear, we sadly fear
Our mittens we have lost.
What! lost your mittens, you naughty kittens!
Then you shall have no pie.
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
No, you shall have no pie.

The three little kittens they found their mittens,

And they began to cry,
Oh, mother dear, see here, see here,
Our mittens we have found!
Put on your mittens, you silly kittens,
And you shall have some pie.
Purr-r, purr-r, purr-r,
Oh, let us have some pie.

The three little kittens put on their mittens,

And soon ate up the pie;
Oh, mother dear, we greatly fear
Our mittens we have soiled.
What! soiled your mittens, you naughty kittens!
Then they began to sigh,
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
Then they began to sigh.

The three little kittens they washed their mittens,

And hung them out to dry;
Oh! mother dear, do you not hear,
Our mittens we have washed!
What! washed your mittens, then you’re good kittens,
But I smell a rat close by.
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
We smell a rat close by.

Psalm 19:14

New International Version (NIV)
 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
   be pleasing in your sight,
   LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Genesis 4

Cain and Abel - Giving The pleasing sacrifice

Just like the three little kittens, Cain and Abel had a chance to do right by an authority figure, but unlike in the case with the kittens - the two brothers did not act the same way.  Abel's sacrifice was the first born and best of what he had, while Cain's is presumably not.  God even gives Cain a chance to admit his mistake and warns him of the sin that can be birthed by his anger.  IT is important that anything we do for those in authority over us - is the best we can do.  God wants us to happily do things in such as way that we are doing them for Him directly.  Our attitudes are a big part of that!  Will you be like Abel, or Cain?  We also need to remember that there is nothing that WE can do to make it 'all better' so we have to trust in God and accept Christ within us to properly 'do right' by God.  In the way we accept the sacrifice of Christ we show whether we will have sin birthed within us - or if that sin will be cleansed.

Doe Doe shows us that no matter what we do.. we cannot get out the sin that is in our lives - we need something more.. what might that be?!
